CY TWOMBLY | GAGOSIAN BEVERLY HILLS EXHIBITION

Gagosian Beverly Hills is hosting an exhibition on the late artist Cy Twombly (1928-2011), best known for his paintings and sculptures, featuring work from the final decade of his life. The showing opened on September 15 and will be on display until December 17, 2022. This will be the first exhibition of Twombly’s work at the Gagosian in a decade. Twombly’s art is also currently being shown at the J. Paul Getty Museum for their Making Past Present exhibition until October 30, 2022.

Twombly, who spent time across the US, Europe, and North Africa in his career, was primarily based in Lexington, VA and Gaeta, Italy in his final years. Much of his later work saw a return to large-scale paintings like his six-panel set Untitled I-VI (Green Painting), which has previously only been exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2016. Also on view are sculptures like Scent of a Rose, which combines plaster, acrylic, wood, staples, and ink, and contrasts white with a bold fuschia.
